How can I get a skate park built in my city?
I would like to have a 10 acre area of my San Diego County to build a skate park so the teenagers can have a fun safe place to go. Skating is not a violent thing. It’s very creative and very much a competive sport. I think the public needs to have a better outlet for our youth to skate. I see so many stores being built and out teenagers just hanging out and being kicked off properties even if they carry thier boards! I don’t think thats fair. Even though I don’t skate I find it better for the youth then being out doing drugs.

There are already some great skateparks in San Diego…two of the best being in Encinitas (Magdalena Ecke YMCA) and in Escondido. The one in Esco was just redone and is awesome! If you are looking for a public park to be built in your area, http://skatepark.org/ is a GREAT resource. They have many suggestions for fund raising and how to get in contact with the right people in the city. There’s also a message board so you can get advice from people have been successful.
